About

About me

While some say that they became a counsellor to remedy their own problems, I simply chose this path because I enjoy working with people. I also feel that people are happiest when they do something that comes naturally to them.

I became a counsellor because I have always considered myself to be a warm, caring individual who enjoys listening and building connections with people. I truly love what I do, especially when I can help a person make a positive difference to their life.

My experience

I have worked in the voluntary sector and have experience of helping many people with a diverse array of problems, including anxiety issues, relationship difficulties, suicidal thoughts, low self-esteem, self harm, and bereavement to name but a few. I have also worked with carers of people with disabilities.

Some clients have specific problems they need support with, whilst others come to seek clarity and make sense of their daily life. Whatever your problem, I am here to listen to you and help you through it.

Qualifications

I enjoy working with all age groups, including young adults, and hold a current DBS certificate. I am a registered member of the British Association of Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP) and I abide by their ethics and principles.

Continuing professional development is another factor of my membership, which helps further develop my knowledge and understanding of how best to help you.

I hold a Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling and have successfully completed the BACP Certificate of Proficiency.

General information

I don't have a waiting room so time keeping is important in that if you are late, I can't let our session over run. I work to a contract and will discuss this with you at the start of counselling. It is in place simply to explain my way of working, including note taking, confidentiality policies etc. It is not to tie you into any fixed term counselling, but a guideline as to what you can expect from me and vice versa.

Counselling takes place at my home, in Dartington, which is quietly situated yet not far from the main road to Totnes and benefits from ample parking and privacy.

If you would like to make an appointment please do so via email or mobile phone.

If I am in session please leave a message and I will return your call as soon as I can.

I look forward to hearing from you.

I live in a quiet and secluded setting that is private.

I have ample parking in my drive or in the car park adjacent to my home.
